Help Buy Back Indigenous Land in the Amazon through our Crowdfunding campaign
Help us buy back indigenous land in the Brazilian Amazon. This crowdfunding campaign supports the purchase of a 350-hectare farm in Acre, Brazil, so land that once belonged to the Huni Kuin can be returned and restored. The goal is to establish a self-sufficient agroforestry system that strengthens food security, local livelihoods, and a community-led economy. The initiative is facilitated by Sãkatani Alliance, following long-term dialogue between Huni Kuin communities and S3C, and aims to restore Indigenous land rights, resilience, and stewardship along the Rio Tarauacá.
We are currently working with 8 of the villages (Ni Yuxibu, Lago Lindo, Arco Iris, Nova União, Rosa Branca, Terra Viva, Flor da Mata and Mãe Bena) in the area of Jordão, where all of the leaders have signed a joint agreement, in which the goal is to buy back deforested farm land, reforest it and under full indigenous management, run this as a 100% self-sufficient agroforestry and Huni Kuin cultural institute to strengthen these original guardians of the Forest!
Sãkatani Alliance supports Indigenous led projects in agroforestry, food sovereignty, cultural preservation and regenerative livelihoods so that communities can thrive on their own terms, today and for future generations. We want the original people who belong to the land, in charge.
Through long term intersectional dialogue and partnerships with various Amazonian communities, our work focuses on reclaiming land, restoring ecosystems and co-create a self-sufficient grassroots economies.
